Hard Truth: You’re Not Busy—You’re Just Avoiding Your Own Life

being overly busy

Let’s be brutally honest—being “too busy” is the most socially acceptable form of avoidance there is, I said it.

"I'm busy" sounds productive, it sounds admirable, and it even lets you off the hook. But in reality, it’s nothing more than a distraction from facing what actually matters.

  • Doing the things you said you'd do.

  • Doing the things you know will benefit you.

  • Doing the things that will get you closer to what you're wanting from life.

You’re not too busy for self-care. You’re not too busy to nurture your relationships. You’re not too busy to prioritize your growth. You're not too busy to advance your education.

What’s really happening?

You’re prioritizing urgency over importance, instant gratification over discomfort, noise over meaning, and distractions over transformation. You fill your calendar with obligations, your mind with busyness, and your time with things that keep you comfortably distracted from the real work—the work of building a life you will actually love.

The real flex?

Control. Control over your time, your energy, and your attention.

Because here’s the hard truth: The busier you are, the less in control you actually are in. Being occupied is not the same as being on purpose. Being in a state of busyness isn't being intentional.

So keep "grinding" if you want, but ask yourself: Are you actually moving forward, or are you just running in place?
