Understanding Doesn't Require Agreement

Healthy communication begins when we stop trying to convince and start trying to understand. You don't have to agree with someone's perspective to create respect, connection, and stronger relationships.

One of the biggest misconceptions in communication is believing that understanding someone means agreeing with them.

It doesn't.

You can respect another person's perspective without adopting it as your own.

In fact, many arguments become painful because both people are trying to convince instead of understand.

Curiosity creates space.

Defensiveness closes it.

The goal of a conversation isn't always agreement.

Sometimes the greatest gift you can offer another person is making them feel understood.
